Since its establishment in 2013, the Network’s impacts have been concentrated in the first three areas of its framework:
Stakeholder input resulted in the Network’s current focus: to identify strategies to support aging in place; and to clearly articulate the characteristics of care that honours seniors.
FOCUSED GENERATION AND TESTING OF IDEAS
To date, the Network has invested in:
1. Improving elder friendly care in acute care, long term care and supportive living
2. Incenting innovative, grassroots projects to improve seniors care and services
3. Strengthening community supports that allow seniors to remain in their home communities
INFORMED POLICIES, PRACTICE, PRODUCTS, SERVICES, AND BEHAVIOURS
Eighteen Innovation Fund investments have resulted in new products, services, changes in practice and behaviours across the continuum of care. The work moving forward will be to intensify knowledge dissemination to increase impact, and use findings from these evidence-based projects to inform and influence policy to best support seniors’ ability to live to the fullness of their capacity as active and connected members of their communities.
